San Juan, Puerto Rico -  With four starts in the league, Austin Pack has made an immediate impact on the team, making six saves in the 1-1 tie against Miami FC last May 27th as visitors. Then the following Saturday on the 3-0 win against FC Edmonton at home where he made two saves, facing two shots on target.

Native of Alpharetta, Georgia; Austin studied at UNCC and was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2014. Puerto Rico FC gave the goalkeeper his first professional contract after an invite to the Pro Combine at Florida in 2015.

Before his NASL debut against North Carolina FC on May 20th, Austin had only played in the pre-season games and the Caribbean Club Championship.

“I feel great to be playing. It’s been a long road to this point, but everyone played well Saturday night and were able to grind out a good result” said Austin about the match against Miami FC.

After a first half of several attacks by Miami, Puerto Rico FC conceded in the 51st minute to a goal by Vicenzo Rennella, which the visitors then tied in the 65th minute thanks to a cross by Jordi Quintillà that Ramón Soria slotted into the net to give the team a draw.

Austin Pack was the man of the match against the home side, facing seven shots on target to his net. Miami FC gained momentum in the final 30 minutes, and Austin made three saves to make sure the game ended in a tie.

Puerto Rico FC faced FC Edmonton the week after, winning 3-0 with goals by strikers Giuseppe Gentile, Pito Ramos, and Jairo Puerto. PRFC dominated the match with fifteen shots on target, getting the first win of the season.

“The team is coming together more and more each week. When the games are played now, we’re getting closer as a team and everyone’s helping me come up. Through last year with all the adversity coming up to this year, everyone’s been good”.

After a 1-3 defeat against SF Deltas last Saturday, Puerto Rico FC flies to New York to face the NY Cosmos on Friday, June 16 at the MCU Park in Brooklyn.
