San Juan Puerto Rico- Puerto Rico FC defeated Jacksonville Armada FC in their fall season home opener. Though the final score was 1-0, PRFC was dominant throughout the game.

Puerto Rico looked energized from the start and controlled the opening minutes of the match. Before reaching the 20 minutes mark, PRFC had already achieved five shots and five corner kicks. In comparison, PRFC achieved 10 shots in the first 45 minutes compared to only two for the visitors.

Jordi Quintillà was a key figure for the PRFC offense all night.  The Catalan controlled the midfield with poise and precise passes. After 43 minutes, he sent a beautiful cross to a striving Giuseppe Gentile on the right wing. Gentile then sent a cross to the box where Conor Doyle smashed it in for the goal.

Minutes later J.C. Banks had a chance to level the game, but Trevor Spangenberg stopped the dangerous shot.

In the second half, Jacksonville was looking to level the game, but Puerto Rico kept doubling the visitors in shots. PRFC’s dominance on the wings thanks to Jairo Puerto, Seth Moses, Walter Ramirez and Gentile proved too strong for the Armada.

Puerto Rico FC will host the San Francisco Delta on Saturday, August 12 at Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium in Bayamón. Get your ticket on PRTicket.com or by calling the PRFC office at 787-722-PRFC. Enjoy our Fan Fest starting at 5:00 pm with live music by the band Top 40.
