San Juan, Puerto Rico- In a clash between two of the three Fall Season leaders, Puerto Rico FC hosts the San Francisco Deltas on Saturday, August 12th at Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium. The Deltas have had the upper hand in the battle between the NASL’s two youngest franchises, but PRFC’s form has greatly improved since their last meeting on July 2nd.

Last time Puerto Rico FC hosted the Deltas they were coming off a win at home against FC Edmonton and a tie on the road against Miami FC. Now they host San Francisco once again in an almost identical situation getting a home win last week against Jacksonville and a road tie the week before against North Carolina FC. PRFC’s job this week is to change the result from that first meeting with San Francisco that gave the local fans a lot to talk about.

“We expect more of the same from last Saturday against Jacksonville,” said Midfielder Conor Doyle who scored the lone goal against the Armada. “We played well the whole game, saw it out, kept a clean sheet and won 1-0. Seeing games through has been a big focus for us heading into the Fall Season,” he added

Puerto Rico will have to be ready for the Deltas new 3-5-2 formations, which they have been using since losing 7-0 to Miami FC in a game that knocked them out of contention for the Spring Season title. Under this new style San Francisco has a record of 1-1-1, but after three games players are starting to get comfortable in their new roles.

“Against San Francisco, we need to keep possession and lock them down so we can keep their attacking players in check,” said Doyle.

Puerto Rico will counter with speed and pressure on the wings which gave all kinds of troubles to Jacksonville and North Carolina. Speed and consistency in the back line has also helped PRFC to sure up their defensive wholes, but Center Back Rudy Dawson will not be available for this game due to a hamstring injury.

Kick-off is set for 7:30pm but our Fan Fest starts at 5:00pm with live music by The Top 40’s: 80’s Tribute Project. Enjoy the greatest hits from the 80’s from one of Puerto Rico’s premiere tribute bands. Get your tickets at PRTicket.com or by calling the PRFC office at 787-722-PRFC.
