San Juan, Puerto Rico - Puerto Rico FC took their unbeaten streak to three games  thanks to a scoreless draw against San Francisco Deltas at Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium.

"It was a complicated and hard-fought match," said PRFC Head Coach Marco Vélez. "During the season there will always be games where things do not go the way you want, but the players have to respond and I understand that we did it tonight. We recovered to put a good fight," he added.

The match was a tale of two halves. Puerto Rico FC had difficulties getting through the midfield in the first half. Although both teams split the possession in half, the Deltas generated more dangerous plays that could have given them the advantage.

In the 26th minute Dagoberto took a dangerous free kick toward the left corner of the goal. Trevor Spangenberg had to stretch his body completely so he could stop the shot with his hand just before it crossed the line.

Puerto Rico came to life in the second half, pushing the defense of the Deltas. In a matter of minutes they generated several dangerous shots, especially in the 54th minute, when Giuseppe Gentile headed a cross from Jairo Puerto, but Romauld Peiser stopped him.

Despite having a six to one shot disadvantage in the first half, Puerto Rico finished the game with 11 shots compared to nine from San Francisco overall.

The game could have been in the hands of either team in the last minutes. Jackson cleared the PRFC defense to find Thomy Heinemann who shot the ball, but Spangenberg stopped it. The last play of the match was a corner shot for PRFC that did not find its mark.

Puerto Rico travels to Jacksonville to face the Armada on Wednesday, August 12th at 7:00 p.m. You can watch it live via ESPN 3. After a stop in Edmonton they return on Saturday, August 26th to Loubriel to host Miami FC. Tickets are on sale at PRTicket.com or by calling 787-722-PRFC.
