PRFC READY TO TAKE FIRST PLACE BACK FROM MIAMI

Sep 1, 2017

San Juan, Puerto Rico- Puerto Rico FC will have the opportunity to avenge last week's result when they face Miami FC once again. This time the stage will be Riccardo Silva Stadium at FIU where PRFC has never loss.

According to Head Coach Marco Vélez, PRFC showed that they can compete with any team in the NASL, and they do not have anything to envy from the spring season champions. With a win, PRFC would return to the top spot of the fall season.

Nine PRFC players combined for 23 shots, compared to 12 shots for Miami. Most of them came in the second half in which both teams split the possession almost in half (PRFC 49-51 MIA), but Puerto Rico’s attacks were much more dangerous than the visitor’s.

Daniel Vega turned out to be the hero for Miami, stopping seven direct shots. The most dangerous were Jairo Puerto's long distance shot in the 23rd minute that forced Vega to jump and stretch himself completely. The second, was a shot by Hector "Pito" Ramos that Vega pushed against the far post in the 68th minute after diving to stop it.

In the last two meetings at Riccardo Silva Stadium, PRFC ended Miami’s five-game winning streak last spring and took three points that put an end to their playoff hopes in 2016. This Saturday, PRFC will have the chance to repeat history by giving the home side their first loss in five games.

Miami will not have one of its main figures, Kwadwo Poku, who was called up by the Ghana National Team. For PRFC, Conor Doyle will not be available due to an ankle injury that will have him sidelined until next week.

Tune in live to WAPA 2 for this important match starting at 7:30 p.m. Puerto Rico FC returns to Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium on Saturday, September 9 to host the New York Cosmos on Puerto Rican Culture Night. There will be live music, artisans, gifts and Medalla Light Happy Hour of 2 for $ 3. Get your tickets at PRTicket.com or by calling 787-722-PRFC.
